Instrumet Repair Services

Our repair department is located onsite and operates five days a week. We offer an appointment system where your instrument is scheduled for work on a specific day. You can keep your instrument until you drop it off the day before the appointment. It can then be picked up late on the appointment day or the next day. Smaller repairs can be left at the shop to fit between larger jobs, taking two days to two weeks depending on the time of year.

Brass

Ultrasonic Cleaning

We completely disassemble your instrument—every part that’s designed to come apart is carefully taken apart. It then goes through a deep ultrasonic cleaning to remove built-up grime, oils, and debris. After that, we scrub the internal tubing with high-speed rotary brushes and a custom blend of soap and fine pumice to ensure a thorough flush. Tuning slides are polished by hand, and every part is rinsed again and dried completely. We reassemble the instrument using high-quality synthetic lubricants, give it a light polish, and return it to a freshly vacuumed case—clean, smooth, and performance-ready.

Stuck Tuning Slides

Tuning slides can seize up over time due to dryness, grime, or corrosion. With the right tools and careful technique, we can usually get them moving again quickly. For tougher cases, we take a slow, steady approach to safely release the slide without damaging your instrument.

Stuck Valves & Valve Casing Repair

Whether it’s a stuck valve, damaged casing, or both, we’ll diagnose the issue and get things moving again. Our repair process focuses on restoring smooth action and making sure your instrument plays like it should.

Soldering Repairs

When parts come loose or cracks appear, soldering is often the fix. We carefully bond metal components back together to restore strength and stability—then clean up the work so your instrument looks and plays its best.

Dent Repair

Accidents happen—even to the most careful players. Whether it's a dent that affects sound or just something cosmetic, we can help. Because every dent is different, we’ll need to see your instrument in person to give an accurate estimate.

Woodwinds

Woodwind Playing Condition Service

Just what your instrument needs to stay in top shape—nothing more, nothing less. This service is tailored to keep your woodwind playing smoothly and reliably. Depending on what we find, it may include things like:

  • Aligning body and keys

  • Replacing worn pads or corks

  • Reseating and adjusting pads

  • Regulating key action

  • Fitting necks and tenons

  • Straightening rods and posts

  • Cleaning and oiling keywork

  • Fixing sticky keys or sluggish pads

  • Adjusting or replacing springs

We recommend a playing condition service about once a year for most players, or every 6 to 9 months for more active musicians. Regular maintenance keeps your instrument feeling great and helps avoid bigger (and costlier) repairs later on.

Student Flute Repad

We fully disassemble the flute and give it a deep ultrasonic cleaning. Rods and screws are cleaned, polished, and lubricated. Keys are checked and straightened, tenons are properly fit, and all pads and key corks are replaced. Springs are adjusted—or replaced if needed—and the headjoint cork is changed. Minor dents are removed (larger ones may cost extra). The flute is then reassembled, precisely regulated, play-tested, and polished.

Professional Flute Repad

This service includes everything in the student repad with added precision and detail. After ultrasonic cleaning, rods and screws are polished and lubricated. We level all tone holes, straighten and precision-fit the keys, and ensure tenons are fit exactly right. Pads and key corks are replaced, springs adjusted or swapped if needed, and the headjoint cork is replaced. Minor dent removal is included (significant dents may incur additional charges). The flute is reassembled, carefully regulated, thoroughly play-tested, and polished to a shine.

Replace Headjoint Cork

One of the most common—and most overlooked—sources of leaks in a flute is the headjoint cork. If the crown moves easily, or if it’s been over a year since your last cork replacement, it’s probably time. A worn cork can cause inconsistent tuning and hidden air leaks, so swapping it out can make a big difference in how your flute plays.

Flute Clean, Oil & Adjust

This service goes beyond a basic playing condition and is perfect for flutes that need a bit more attention but don’t yet need a full repad. The flute is fully disassembled, including removal of knock pins and key clusters. The body, foot, headjoint, and crown are ultrasonically cleaned. Rods and screws are polished, lubricated, and the entire instrument is hand-polished. The headjoint cork is replaced, keys are straightened, and everything is carefully regulated and adjusted. Pads are reseated, and up to two pads can be replaced if needed. We finish with a full play test to make sure everything is performing at its best.

Ideal for older flutes with good pads or as preventive maintenance for step-up and professional models.

Each instrument is evaluated individually, and work quoted as needed.

Intermediate Flute Repad

We fully disassemble the flute and give it an ultrasonic cleaning to remove buildup and residue. Rods and screws are cleaned, polished, and lubricated. Tone holes are leveled where needed, keys are straightened and properly fit, and tenons are adjusted for a secure connection. All pads and key corks are replaced, springs are checked and either adjusted or replaced as needed, and the headjoint cork is replaced. Minor dents are removed (larger dents may require an additional charge). The flute is then reassembled, carefully regulated, thoroughly play-tested, and polished to finish.

Straubinger Flute Repad

This premium service is designed for flutes using Straubinger pads. The instrument is fully disassembled and ultrasonically cleaned. Rods and screws are cleaned, polished, and lubricated. Tone holes are leveled with precision, keys are straightened and carefully fit, and tenons are adjusted for optimal alignment. All pads are replaced with genuine Straubinger pads, along with all key corks. Springs are adjusted—or replaced as needed—and the headjoint cork is replaced. Minor dents are addressed (additional charges may apply for significant dent work). Finally, the flute is reassembled, regulated, play-tested, and polished for peak performance.

Fit Flute Headjoint or Footjoint

Flute joints can loosen over time from wear, or become too tight due to dirt or minor dents. Whether you're dealing with a poor fit or upgrading to an after-market headjoint, we’ll make sure everything fits securely and comfortably—without compromising sound or playability.

Intermediate / Professional Clarinet Clean, Oil & Adjust

The clarinet is fully disassembled and the body is gently cleaned using wood-safe soap, then oiled to preserve and protect the wood. Keys and hinge tubes are cleaned by hand, and all rods and pivot screws are polished. Keys are straightened and key corks replaced as needed. We lubricate the mechanism with synthetic key oil, reseat any necessary pads, and carefully regulate and adjust the keywork. A full play-test ensures the instrument is playing at its best.

Saxophone Clean, Oil & Adjust

The saxophone is fully disassembled, and both the neck and body are ultrasonically cleaned. Keys and pads are carefully cleaned by hand, and hinge tubes are degreased. Hinge rods and pivot screws are cleaned and lubricated. Key corks are replaced as needed, and any bent keys are straightened. The mechanism is lubricated with high-quality synthetic oil and grease. Pads are leveled and reseated as needed, the entire mechanism is adjusted, and the instrument is thoroughly play-tested to ensure great response and playability.

Sax Neck Fit Adjustment

Neck leaks are more common than you'd think—many saxophone necks aren't perfectly fit at the factory. If you notice uneven wear or polished spots on your neck tenon, it's a sign that the fit isn’t airtight. We use precision tools to expand and custom-fit the neck, then lap it for an even, secure seal that improves tone, response, and overall playability.

Student Clarinet Clean, Oil & Adjust

We start by fully disassembling the clarinet and giving the body and mouthpiece an ultrasonic cleaning. Keys and hinge tubes are cleaned by hand, while rods and pivot screws are polished. Keys are straightened and key corks are replaced as needed. The mechanism is lubricated with synthetic key oil, pads are reseated, and the keys are regulated and adjusted. We finish with a full play-test to ensure everything is working as it should.

Professional Clarinet Repad

We begin by fully disassembling the clarinet. Keys are ultrasonically cleaned, and the body is washed with wood-safe soap and oiled to preserve the wood. Rods and screws are polished, cleaned, and lubricated. Keys are straightened and precision fit for optimal feel and response. Tone holes are carefully filed and leveled to correct any factory inconsistencies. All pads, key corks, and tenon corks are replaced. Springs are adjusted or replaced as needed. The instrument is then reassembled, expertly regulated, and thoroughly play-tested to ensure professional-level performance.

Neck Cork Replacement

A worn or dry neck cork can ruin your day—especially right before a performance. If the fit feels loose or the cork is starting to crack, it's time for a replacement. We use high-quality natural cork and size it precisely for your instrument and mouthpiece. Be sure to bring both so we can make sure the fit is just right.

Tone holes are leveled as needed, keys are straightened, and the neck tenon is properly fit. All pads, key corks, and the neck cork are replaced. Springs are adjusted—or replaced if necessary. Minor dents are removed (larger dent work may require an additional charge).
